“OAuth Explained” blog posted on SitePoint

August 17th, 2010 by Raj

It’s official, I am now a professional “blog/tech writer-like-person” being that I was paid to write something nerdy and it was placed on the Internet. w00t bitches!

What pray-tell is this first piece about? Well, have you heard of a little ole protocol called “OAuth“? Hey… hey… have ya??! Oh. You haven’t, well all the more reason you should read the article then because I do promise it to be a very entertaining read.

Thanks must of course go to the good people who have contracted me to write this, and an upcoming “how-to” piece on the same topic, SitePoint. For without their good cash I could not brandish the title “professional”. Props.

So what are you waiting for?? Check it out for yourself here:

So we all spend countless hours at work home stumbling our way through the Inter-Ma-Nets while we’re waiting for that important email; granted the majority is crap but every now and then you come across a diamond in the rough…

So I thought to myself what better way for me to write quick easy blog entries perhaps some of you out there would be interested in them too.

This time we’ve got a little bit of an “Entertainment” theme…

  • Tales From Earthsea (link)
I’m not sure how I didn’t know about this one earlier! Coming out soon is the latest film from Studio Ghibli (The people behind Spirited Away & Howl’s Moving Castle). As always the the imagery looks beyond beautiful; if you’re not a Japanese Animation (Anime) person try one of the Studio Ghibli films and allow yourself to be lost in the beautiful art of story telling.

  • High Res Transformers Pics (link)
Keeping with the movie theme, Transformers Director Michael Bay has done the geek world a huge favour by releasing some extremely high resolution shots of his re-invented Transformer cast. Check out the link for some fantastic shots of Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream and more.

  • Conan O’Brien visits LucasArts (link)
Conan is by far the funniest tonight show host, I for one can’t wait until he takes over Jay Leno’s spot and brings some actual comedy back to the show. To give you and idea of what’s in store check out Conan on a recent visit to LucasArts’ SkyWalker Ranch; funny stuff from the carrot top.

  • Harvey Birdman coming to PSP (link)
Last one today sees us round off the entertainment theme with the news that AdultSwim’s Harvey Birdman – Attorney at Law will be receiving his own PSP game later this year! "I’ll take the case!"

  • Animator vs Animation II (link)
This is the second in the Animator vs Animation series. (original) The basic premise is a stick figure fighting back against the user by utilising desktop icons & toolbars as weapons. Both the original and this new one are very well done and worth a look.

  • Cool OSX Apps (link)
This is a fantastic site that finds and reviews a whole bunch of cool applications for Mac OS X users. I’ve pretty much re-iterated the name of the website in one sentence to describe it for you all but you get the picture. Check it out if you’re a Mac-o-phile like me!

  • 5 Minutes to Kill (Yourself) (link)
This one is a flash game I found by accident the other day whilst I was checking the adultswim website to see if Robot Chicken had a new season announced yet or not… Anyone got some more info on that? Anywho; this little flash game has you walking around a seemingly normal office with the morbid task of doing yourself in before the 5 minute time limit expires. It’s very funny and one that has an almost unlimited replay value, give it a whirl!

  • Start to Finish Super Mario Bros in 5 Minutes (link)
So this insane 17 year old has videod himself completing the original Super Mario Brothers from beginning to finish in 5 minutes flat! Watching someone play Mario for five minutes isn’t that exciting on its own but I must admit I was pretty amazed the whole way through, this kid has some serious skills!
