I grew up with Mavro. As fourteen year olds we did cross country running (of all things). He'd remember competing in the cross country sprints up at Wudinna. Later on, as young entreprenuers, we made some good money doing boundary umpiring for the B and A grade football in Lincoln. Following that, it was the battle between who had the fastest car (something that at the time, all 17 year olds wanted to prove). He had a grumbling LH Torana, and i had a Toyota Celica hatchback with a supercharged 2 litre.

Darren, you were a friend when i needed one, and im glad we had the time together. I haven't seen you in 10 years, but i was very moved to hear that you had passed, and my thoughts are with you and your mum, dad and sister.
Rest in peace mate. Love Tod Pedler.

Kerrie, from what i know (and i can't bring myself at this stage to call his parents) he was exercising at a gym in Vietnam when he collapsed. He passed away on the way to the hospital. The news is that he died from an enlarged heart.

I knew Darren for years when we both lived in Port Lincoln and then Adelaide. He was a fantastic fun loving person with a huge heart. He was the most energetic person I have ever known. I was so happy to hear that he had found true love and someone he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. She is a very lucky lady. My heart goes out to her in this time of great tragedy. Also I would like to express my condolences to Darren's family. I know how much he adored you all. I have not been in contact with Mav for a few years now. Things change and people move on but he will always have a special place deep within my heart. I will always remember the wonderful times we had together.
If possible could someone please contact me on the above email address and tell me what happened to him? I only know he passed away from the obituaries in the newspaper. It would be very much appreciated.
Rest in peace Darren, you will always be remembered.

Hi Raj
we all were shocked to hear about the Derren's death and to makes things even harder he died in Vitetam, where he was on honeymoon with his newly wedded wife. poor girl, she be wreck. I rang Derren's parents and talked about Derren's life and they are in a shock and finding difficult to believe what is happened.
Raj thanks for aknowledging Derren's mentoring role during your childhood. I saw Derren about a year ago he was very happy and as always he asked about all of you children and very proud that all of you doing well.

Take care.
